               EXT. BOULEVARD - DAY

Flowers cascade over a coffin.

A gun carriage rolls along a track of white carpet that
stretches through a tunnel of sobbing people.

A vast procession of A-listers, oligarchs, and other high
flyers follow - black is this months colour - tissues and
body guards accessorise.

Colours draped over the coffin are white - one letter
branded over it's centre:

'N'

GRIEVING PUBLIC
Numen!

EXT. CITY SQUARE - DAY

Video billboards feed the funeral procession to a vast
crowd - other billboards display the trademark:

'N' or 'NUMEN'.

INT. CUPID'S OFFICE - DAY

CUPID is gushing with uncontrollable grief - undeniably
handsome and in his prime - his wings remain completely and
compactly folded behind his back.

The lavish office takes up the entire top floor of an
immensely tall skyscraper - fountains, statues, frescos
(strictly pre-renaissance interior).

On one window is projected the funeral broadcast.

CUPID
(Weeping)
Alma..!

There is a tremendous exterior doorway that should open to
the skies - Cupid struggles to open it.

CUPID (CONT'D)
Mother!

MOTHER!!!!!!

The door is locked. Cupid is enraged.

He looks into the flame of a torch. His appearance
distorted through the ascending hot air.

EXT. SKYSCRAPER ROOF - DAY

VENUS - the personification of beauty - sits upon a throne
at the centre of a grand Italian roof garden. The top of
the skyscraper has just broken through the clouds as if
they themselves were an extension of the roof.

Her face was not designed for it's seething expression.

CUPID (O.S.)
(Mad)
ARGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
(Wild)
ROARRRRRRRRRERRRRRR!!!!!!
(Pain)
ARRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

SMASH!!! We hear glass breaking.

The screaming ceases.

The silence brings sorrow to Venus' face.

EXT. HEATH - DAY

Clouds have broken the sunshine.

A handful of people attend a peaceful burial ceremony.

JOE - a meek man - stands as cold as a gravestone.

EXT. HEATH BOUNDARY - DAY

The world's media stand at a grand entrance to a private
garden estate.

Rain starts falling and they cover their reporting
equipment.

EXT. HEATH - DAY

The rain pours over the coffin as it is lowered in its
grave.

BABY CRYING.

JOE is handed a tiny baby and he holds it uncertainly.

An umbrella is lifted over them and the baby settles.

INT. CUPID'S OFFICE - DAY

A draft blows through a broken window and catches an
enormous gleaming white feather - it travels across the
mosaic floor.

Its journey is obstructed by a glorious gold bow that also
lies on the floor - the string broken.

FADE TO BLACK.

EXT. DYSTOPIAN CITY STREET - DAY

'25 YEARS LATER'.

The dirt on the skyscraper is too thick to be washed off by
the pouring rain - closer to the ground broken windows
expose the buildings rusty framework.

One piece of graffiti scrawls: 'NO LOVE'.

The rain has not washed the filth or trash from the
streets - conditions are more suitable for RATS than
beggars - no charity is offered by the CRIMINALS that line
the streets - a POLICEMAN acts more like a pimp.

SPLASH!

Sodden tattered baseball shoes runs through oily puddles -
SKY weaves in and out of the STREET URCHINS.

SPLASH!

Large boots - a HENCHMAN.

TRANSCEIVER (O.S.)
(Slightly distorted)
Visual ID?

HENCHMAN
Female.

SPLASH! The chase continues.

HENCHMAN (CONT'D)
Average height.
Medium build.
Faded jeans...
Cap... Rain coat.

SPLASH! Sky runs across a junction. Traffic passes behind
her and blocks the path of the following henchman.

Sky turns and offers a warm smile.

BEAT.

Sky's face lights up the otherwise miserable landscape.

HENCHMAN (CONT'D)
Very, very beautiful...

TRANSCEIVER (O.S.)
Positive ID.

Sky runs away.

HENCHMAN
Lost contact.

EXT. LONELY HEARTS CLUB - DAY

A basement dive bar.

INT. LONELY HEARTS CLUB - DAY

Where broken hearts come to drown their sorrows.

SKY looks back, steps into the establishment, and sits in a
booth - she looks streetwise - beautiful. Out of breath
she removes her cap and pulls over a hood.

CUPID shivers like a bolt went down his spine. He has not
noticed Sky behind him. He is slouching over the bar -
diminished rough appearance - ragged leather jacket with
hooded sweater beneath.

CUPID
(Drunk)
What is this today?

BARTENDER
Your usual Sir.

Cupid pushes his glass to the BARTENDER and vaguely nods to
the end of the bar.

CUPID
And one for the lady over there.

BARTENDER
Of course.

The bartender pours two shots.

BARTENDER (CONT'D)
Which one?

CUPID
You mean there's more than one?
I thought I was seeing double.

The bartender assess the singles at the end of the bar and
gives it to the most trashy and LONELY LADY.

BARTENDER
That's from the cherub over
there.

LONELY LADY
Cherub?

The bartender points to Cupid who holds up his drink.

LONELY LADY (CONT'D)
(Blushes)
Oh! Sweet thin'!

Cupid offers a lazy smile, downs his shot, and falls off
his stool.

LONELY LADY (CONT'D)
(Howls)
Yooooowwwwllll!!!

The bartender resets Cupid in the booth where Sky sits -
she watches as he pulls himself together and takes another
shot.

Cupid turns to Sky.

BEAT.

She smiles sweetly. She speaks softly.

SKY
Hi love.

Cupid arches his back - fills his chest - shivers.

CUPID
(Inspects the shot
glass)
Something has really come over me.

BARTENDER! The bottle!

I havn't felt like this since...
well...

BARTENDER
Twen'y five years?

The bartender comes to pour another and leaves the bottle.

CUPID
The likeness is intolerable.

What are you doing here?

What are you?

SKY
What am I..?!

CUPID
No! No! You can't do this --
you're..?

SKY
Look pal. I think you might have
me confused with someone else
okay...

CUPID
Oh yes. Very much so..!
